Questions
Do I need WordPress or a database?
No. Projects are folders of plain files on your computer, and exports are static HTML, CSS and JS. If you want the pages in WordPress, you can export them there too. The only database in the system belongs to the central license server.
Can I try it before buying?
Yes. The first start begins a 7-day free trial with no key or card needed. Editing, Preview, import and the AI assistant work during the trial; exporting, publishing and the Landing Page Generator need a license.
What counts as a domain?
The production domain you enter when you export or publish, such as www.example.com. Each plan registers up to its limit. You can release a domain to free its slot, up to 5 releases every 30 days.
Does the exported site need a license to keep running?
No. Sites you export are yours, including the runtime script and stylesheet the compiler adds. They keep working whether or not your license is renewed.
Where are my AI and service keys stored?
In your local settings on your computer. They are never written into a project or an exported site. Payment processor secrets live in your own serverless payments endpoint.
Which AI providers are supported?
Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini and Azure OpenAI, using your own API keys.
Can I edit a site I already have?
Yes. File → Open HTML File turns any .html page into an editable project, and Import → Whole website rebuilds up to 50 pages of a live site in the same design, copying its images and fonts. The original is never changed.
Does it work on macOS or Linux?
The installer is for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit.
Can I sell products?
Yes. Use Payment Form for PayPal, Stripe, Square, Braintree, Razorpay, Mollie or Authorize.net, or Buy Button and Product Card for hosted checkout links. WooCommerce is not part of Web Studio; use Sidcraft Commerce on WordPress for a full shop.
I used Sidcraft Web Studio. Do I lose anything?
No. Installing Canvasly Web Studio moves your settings, license activation and projects over automatically.
Can I put my pages in WordPress?
Yes. Since 2.5, Export can create WordPress pages or posts: a small plugin keeps the design, and each page's content is a Custom HTML block you can still edit. See Export to WordPress on the Export & publish page.
Can I export to React or a headless CMS?
Yes. Since 2.6, Export can create a React (Next.js) project that builds a static site or deploys to Vercel, an Astro project, or a Payload CMS project where clients edit their pages in an admin with drafts, preview and publish.
Why not use a WordPress page builder?
Page builder plugins usually load their whole framework on every page and keep layouts in their own format, so pages depend on the builder staying installed. A Canvasly export loads only the code each page uses, and its content stays plain HTML.
Does it work offline?
Yes, for up to 14 days with an activated license. After that the Studio asks to reconnect once. The free trial needs a connection at least every 48 hours. Exporting and publishing always need a connection.
Is the Landing Page Generator included?
Yes, with every plan. It needs an activated license key, so it isn't part of the free trial. On Windows the Studio installs Python for it if needed.
Can AI apps like Claude Code build in Canvasly?
Yes. Turn on Settings → MCP server, and Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and other MCP clients can build pages, styles and menus in Canvasly. Changes appear live in the editor and Ctrl+Z undoes them.
Is there an Enterprise plan?
Yes. Standard licenses are for individuals, small businesses and agencies with 100 or fewer employees. Larger organisations can contact us about Enterprise licensing.
